The Australian government oversees the use of 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers through the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). In buying an inbound number, your business secures the right to use that number. In effect, you own the number if you purchase it directly from Alltel or ACMA.
You may use the number for the life of your business, even if you move offices or decide to switch providers, it should be noted however that the number must not be inactive for more than three years or it will be made available for purchase.
